Along with several stores in Victoria, Bliss Boutique has a modern vintage vibe. It is a light and airy store that always has lovely window displays. Bliss Boutique is known for its selection of dresses which are fun, affordable and perfect for occasions such as outdoor weddings, casual beach days and date night. From casual to classy, Bliss represents the quintessential “West Coast Girl” with lots of comfy casual styles from lines such as Camp Leader, or for the edgy girly girl, there’s lines like Sugarlips, which feature classic cuts in modern colours, exposed zippers and flirty cutouts.
What draws me to most stores is merchandising, especially when it is that of a vintage vibe, and Bliss Boutique has always drawn me in. The first time I really noticed Bliss was probably a couple of years ago – right around Valentines day – they had hung up Valentine dresses on a string with clothespins! There were these pretty, old looking love letters pinned up too, as well as scattered out all over the floor. My description doesn’t do it any justice, but I was just so taken with that window display (I still think about it!).
Then you walk into the store… there’s glass cloches and apothecaries and silver dishes and books with greenery growing out of them. Vintage frames and sewing box drawers and other mismatched drawers and old ladders displaying jewellery that not many could resist. When I see West Coast style represented like this, it makes me very happy to be in Victoria. As a fan of both the shift dress and any dress that draws inspiration from cuts of the ’60s, this store errs on the edge of dangerous for me. The best part? Price is about $30 – $80 store wide!
Bliss Boutique has been a favourite of mine for years now. While I normally classify it as a girly store full of frocks and sweet colours, I have found the occasional bad-ass item (6 inch Dollhouse Litas, anyone?). The owner, Steph, is warm and bubbly and if you have a question, just ask!
